Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
